Kiandre Weekes, once a young entrepreneur selling cupcakes to support his academic endeavors, has now risen to the highest honor at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, Barbados—becoming its valedictorian.

Recognition from the government

In acknowledgment of Kiandre’s outstanding achievements, St Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister and Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #8, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, offered a scholarship to support Kiandre’s future educational pursuits. 

According to Drew, the gesture, a testament to the government’s commitment, underscores the importance of nurturing and recognizing exceptional talents from communities like Cayon, known for producing high achievers.

Weekes expressed gratitude for the scholarship offer to attend the Norman Manley Law School. The scholarship will ease his financial burdens, allowing him to pursue his dream.

Growing up with a single mother, Kiandre was imbued with a strong work ethic.

Despite academic challenges, such as balancing work and studies or adapting to new learning formats, Kiandre’s success formula revolved around meticulous time management, self-care, and understanding his productivity peaks. 

Furthermore, the young valedictorian deeply values the mentors, lawyers, senior students, and extended family who guided him, emphasizing the necessity of a solid support system in life’s journey.

A passion for Law

With his recent graduation in Law, Kiandre has developed keen interests in areas such as Constitutional Law, Real Property, and Legislative Drafting. 

He envisions himself making significant contributions to the legal field and his nation.
