Assetto Corsa Evo’s Early Access Cars and Tracks Announced
  • Assetto Corsa Evo is scheduled to enter early access on January 16 ahead of a full release slated for this fall.
  • We now know that the initial launch will feature five tracks and 20 cars. It will have support for both VR and three-screen setups.
  • The actual gameplay will include a single-player practice mode, a single-player quick race mode, car customization, and a car purchase/rental system.

If Forza and Gran Turismo don’t offer the level of racing simulation you’re after and the idea of bucking up for an iRacing subscription every month doesn’t sit well with you, where does that leave you? Probably knocking on Assetto Corsa’s door. We’re now less than a week away from the early access launch of the newest game in the Assetto Corsa library: Assetto Corsa Evo.

Early access is scheduled to launch on January 16, with the full release of the game planned for sometime this fall. When it launches next week, players will have access to five tracks and 20 cars. So far, only the first four cars have been revealed. The list includes the Toyota GR86, Ferrari 296 GTB, BMW M2 CS Racing, and Abarth 695 Biposto. The rest will likely remain a mystery until the launch.

As for tracks, the team behind the studio wasn’t leaving anything to chance. With a wide-ranging list of tracks that includes Brands Hatch, Imola, Laguna Seca, Mount Panorama, and Suzuka, players will be chasing tenths all the way until the full release.

According to the studio, the actual gameplay will include a single-player practice mode, a single-player quick race mode, car customization, and a car showroom. Just as interesting, it will also feature a new in-game economy with options for renting cars, buying cars, gaining experience points, and rewards for your driver profile, along with driving licenses and a driving academy. If you’re lucky enough to use a setup with either VR or a triple-monitor setup, the studio confirmed support for both of those as well.

Headshot of Jack Fitzgerald

Jack Fitzgerald’s love for cars stems from his as yet unshakable addiction to Formula 1.
After a brief stint as a detailer for a local dealership group in college, he knew he needed a more permanent way to drive all the new cars he couldn’t afford and decided to pursue a career in auto writing. By hounding his college professors at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he was able to travel Wisconsin seeking out stories in the auto world before landing his dream job at Car and Driver. His new goal is to delay the inevitable demise of his 2010 Volkswagen Golf.
