CPD UWB by JOYNEXT

JOYNEXT has launched its first mass-produced Child Presence Detection (CPD) system using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, now being installed in vehicles from a major Japanese joint venture brand. This advanced system, developed with UbiTraq Technology, accurately detects the presence of children—even in blind spots or under blankets—by monitoring vital signs like breathing and heartbeat, meeting strict C-NCAP and global regulatory standards. With automated production and rigorous testing, JOYNEXT ensures high product reliability and safety. The launch marks a significant step in advancing vehicle safety and reinforcing JOYNEXT’s role in shaping child safety regulations worldwide.

Google Android Auto Updates

At Google I/O 2025, Google unveiled significant updates to Android Auto, aiming to enhance in-car entertainment and connectivity. Key among these is the integration of Spotify Jam, a feature that allows passengers to collaboratively curate playlists during drives. Users can join a session by scanning a QR code displayed on the car’s infotainment screen, enabling real-time additions to the music queue without needing to pass around a device .

In addition to Spotify Jam, Android Auto is expanding its support for video streaming and web browsing applications. Video apps like YouTube and Netflix will be accessible through the car’s display, though playback will be restricted to when the vehicle is stationary to ensure driver safety. To further address safety concerns, Google is developing an audio-only mode that automatically activates when the car is in motion, allowing users to continue listening to content such as video podcasts without visual distractions .

The platform is also introducing support for web browsers, enhancing the versatility of the infotainment system during parked periods. These features are part of a broader initiative to provide a more comprehensive and engaging in-car experience, aligning with the increasing demand for connectivity and entertainment options in vehicles .

Furthermore, Android Auto will soon support Quick Share, enabling seamless content sharing between smartphones and car displays. This feature facilitates tasks such as adding stops to navigation routes directly from a mobile device, streamlining the user experience .

Asahi Kasei Dry Film Photoresist

Asahi Kasei has unveiled the TA Series of Sunfort™ dry film photoresist, a next-generation material engineered for advanced semiconductor packaging in AI servers and other high-tech applications. Designed for use in both conventional stepper and laser direct imaging (LDI) systems, the TA Series enables ultra-fine wiring with 1.0 µm resist widths and 3 µm plating patterns—essential for high-density redistribution layers (RDLs) in panel-level packaging. This strategic launch supports Asahi Kasei’s “Trailblaze Together” growth plan, aiming to capitalize on rising demand in AI, automotive, and IoT sectors. By addressing resolution limitations that have historically hindered dry film resist adoption, the TA Series enhances performance, efficiency, and scalability in semiconductor manufacturing.

VIA Optronics & Autolink Joint Venture

VIA optronics AG and Autolink Information Technology have formed a joint venture named Wuxi Turing Intelligent Display Technology Co., Ltd. (“Turing”) to develop next-generation smart cockpit systems for the automotive industry. The venture will combine VIA’s advanced display and camera technologies with Autolink’s electronic control units (ECUs) and software platforms to deliver integrated, system-level solutions for intelligent mobility.

Turing will handle display manufacturing and assembly, while leveraging Autolink’s domain controller expertise and VIA’s optical bonding capabilities. Aimed at serving both global OEMs and export-driven Chinese brands, the joint venture is positioned to become a leader in intelligent cockpit displays, driving innovation in human-machine interaction and enhancing the automotive supply chain globally.

HAAS Alert & Mitsubishi Electric V2X Integration

HAAS Alert and Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America (MEAA) have announced a strategic partnership to enhance in-vehicle safety through the integration of HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud with MEAA’s new in-cabin monitoring system, FLEXConnect™. Unveiled at CES 2025, FLEXConnect™ uses real-time vehicle data to boost driver awareness and now incorporates Safety Cloud alerts for nearby road hazards such as emergency vehicles and work zones.

This integration enables vehicles equipped with FLEXConnect™ to both receive and broadcast digital alerts, enhancing driver awareness and enabling faster response to roadside emergencies. The collaboration leverages HAAS Alert’s industry-leading V2X safety network—already embedded in vehicles from major automakers and navigation apps like Apple Maps and Waze—to make driving smarter and safer.
